Taylor Swift: the reason for the teardrops on my laptop keyboard

Abstract:
Imma let you finish, but Miranda Lambert had the best country album OF ALL TIME!

I hate Kanye West.

Why? He insulted Taylor Swift at the VMAs. Hence, people started feeling sorry for Taylor. Hence, people started listening to her music. HENCE, Taylor Swift won three Grammys Sunday night.

AGREEEEEEED. If she tried to shoot a 12 gauge, she would probably fracture her shoulder. Anna says she would just explode (one can only hope). Ok that was a bit harsh, but she is definitely not Grammy material, and definitely NOT country. Come to think of it, we're not sure what she is, but she should go back to Pennsylvania. And it is treason that she was on the same stage with Stevie Nicks "singing" Rhiannon.. we almost cried.

I agree with all you say about Taylor Swift,but you kill off your own points when you repeatedly try to tell people Miranda Lambert is REAL Country Music.Please.She is Southern Rock at the most.Her latest effort is the furthest thing from REAL country music there is.Learn the genre before you try to bash it and look like an idiot.And screw up your life..I mean TIME magazine is hardly a realiable source for country music news.(Or any news for that much)

Also before you take things out on the state of PA,Lacy J Dalton is from that same state who has more country music in her little finger than what most any mainstream artist around does today,including that Southern Rock star Miranda Lambert.Probably never heard of her,have you? ( BTW,Great job turning John Prines classic "That's The Way The World Goes 'Round" into a rock song too Miranda..Puke)

Last but not least, Swift won FOUR awards not three.Good grief,if you're going to rant,get a few facts right

Or at least I would hope so. If you love Taylor, then fine. I love Taylor Swift. I jam out to her music on a regular basis. However, I listen to Taylor Swift because it sounds happy in my ears and is pleasing to my brain, not because she makes me cooler or other people like her. So in essence:

Stopz ur bitchin' about a small error in detail that is OBVI not embarrassing at all.

You are wrong. Taylor Swift is very country. The only problem is that you have only heard a few of her songs from the radio. Those are more aligned with the pop genre. If you purchase her albums you will understand why she is listed as a country artist. Your lack of insight into this matter weakens any claims you make here.
She won 4 Grammys on Sunday; and has had 87 nominations and 59 different awards to date (She wins 68% of the time she is nominated). Because she is played on VH1 and MTV does not make her pop; it shows a victory for a country artist gaining mainstream media attention. She has saved Nashville in this sense.
You come to a conclusion without considering the following.
If there were other albums better than her's, why is Fearless the number one selling album of the 2009? Why did she dominate at the fan-picked AMAs? Why is she the most downloaded artist of all time? Why has her album peaked at #1 in 5 different countries? Why has the New York times called her "one of pop's finest songwriters, country's foremost pragmatist and more in touch with her inner life than most adults"?

You are all taking this way too seriously. It's an opinion column, first of all, and some of it is obviously exaggerated for comic effect. And if you're suddenly the expert, write your own damn column.

also...being "number one selling" and a fan favorite does not make a person a good musician OR "true country". anyone can tell you that popularity does not a quality musician make. (cough Britney Spears cough). I thought this was a hilariously written column and anyone who watched the Grammy's cringed with sympathy for poor Stevie Nicks who is ten times the quality artist that Taylor Swift will ever be....
